We saw about a dozen statues in a Buddhist temple in Yong Nian. Each figure represented a different thing, such as kindness to animals, teaching, etc. The one that represents "understanding" is in the first picture below, with his mouth very wide, hands up as far as he can reach, as if saying, "aHA!"


The last figure on the right with the tiger represented man's closeness to animals. When I asked why the figure held a chain around the tiger's neck, I was told it was because man keeps the animals close.
