When you find yourself in a Situation of Uncertainty, your first step is to assess the risk of crossing.

In these situations, because there may be approaching vehicles that you don't expect, with drivers who would have to slow down or even stop to avoid hitting you,
it is important to know


• "who has the right of way here?"
• "how likely is it that I am going to be surprised by an approaching vehicle that I didn't expect?"
• "if I am surprised with an unexpected vehicle, how likely is it that it will hit me?"
• "if a vehicle does hit me, how likely is it that I'll be serious injured or killed?"
