Jeremy Congdon is a resourceful man who uses a wheelchair and lost a lot of his hearing and vision in the last few years. He has shared lots of great ideas, including the following:


I use my FM system to localize traffic sounds so I can figure out the traffic flow. My FM system is a neck-worn microphone with three settings: omnidirectional, directional, and superfocus. When I want to localize the traffic sounds, I set the microphone to its superfocus setting and sweep it slowly around the intersection. I can identify where the sound is coming from by noticing what direction the microphone is pointing when it is the loudest.
